The World Wrestling Federation's two-hour weekend series airing on cable's TNN, which replaced "WWF Superstars" and "WWF Livewire" (which had also aired on TNN and earlier, USA Network). Hosted by WWF personalities Jonathan Coachman and Terri Runnels, "WWF Excess" reviewed the past week in the wrestling promotion, with highlights of notable wrestling matches and other current events. Each show also featured included in-studio interviews with one or two guest wrestlers per week, segments on the wrestlers' out-of-character and out-of-ring activities (e.g., charitable, civic and political activities; appearances in movies and TV-series; etc.) and hype for upcoming events. Each show also featured a classic WWF match from the past 25 years.

In the early 80`s, Vince McMahon began a \"WWF Superstars of Wrestling\" as a Saturday morning, family friendly version of professional wrestling. He built a phenomenon around such characters as Hulk Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage, The Junk Yard Dog, Andre the Giant, Demolition, and later Bret Hitman Hart, The Undertaker & Shawn Michaels. The show featured pro wrestling and soap opera-esque storylines. The show ended its thirteen year run in 1997, when the WWF moved into edgier territory with its RAW program.

"WWF Livewire" is a weekend cable wrestling series updating the past week in the World Wrestling Federation. When the show premiered in 1997, the show's original format allowed viewers to submit questions to the WWF wrestlers via the Internet. Later, a host (and sometimes hostess) recapped what had happened on that past week's WWF programs, plus provided other updates on ongoing feuds and out-of-the-ring activities of the WWF superstars.
